Newsletter – March 2018

Dear Parents/Carers

World Book Day – Thank you for supporting this event the children who attended looked fabulous and we all had lots of fun dressing up, enjoying stories and acting them out. (Look out for the photos at our Easter concert).

Easter Concert – Wednesday 28th March Our concert will be held on Wednesday 28th March, please arrive at 10.15am for a 10.30am start. Tea, coffee, hot cross buns together with squash and biscuits will be available after the concert, with a raffle to include a luxury hamper as the first prize. Family and friends very welcome – all children must be accompanied. There will be no Breakfast club, morning Pre-school session or Lunch club that day. Please note that we are closed on Thursday 29th March

We need your help – Fundraising At the Easter Concert we would like to hold a raffle and a cake stall. Please can you make a donation, we need tins of fruit, nice biscuits, wine or anything suitable to put in a luxury hamper and not forgetting some Easter Eggs. Also we would welcome any new unwanted gifts for raffle prizes, or if you work for a company please ask if they could help us is anyway? We are hoping to raise funds to provide new garden equipment and resources for the children.

Song/Rhyme Sheet Please continue to help your child/children to learn these songs and rhymes at home, we regularly sing the songs in Pre-school but the extra practice at home will support your child’s language skills whilst having fun too.

Dental Role Play and Activities – 23rd April – 30th May We will be learning about keeping our teeth clean and healthy with resources borrowed from the Oral Health team. If you require any support with finding a dentist or would like some information or help please speak to a member of staff.

Children who are poorly – If your child is unwell PLEASE keep them at home, if they have needed Calpol or equivalent that morning or if they are showing any symptoms or signs of an infection we ask that you keep them off until they are better. If your child has had sickness or diarrhoea then in line with our policies we request that you keep them off for at least 48 hours after they last had any symptoms.

Collection at 3pm We now have a large number of children who go home at 3pm, so as to not disrupt the session for the children who stay until 3.45pm and to ensure the safety of all we ask if you could please collect your child promptly.

Summer Term 18 Sadly we will be unable to accommodate any last minute requests for clubs or extra sessions next term as we will be full.

30 hour funding – If you have registered for 30 hours funding please ensure that you re-confirm when contacted, failure to do so may result in the funding being withdrawn and you will be liable for the hours allocated to your child.

Moving on If your child/children will be leaving us to go on to Nursery or School at the end of term we would appreciate you letting us know as soon as you can so that transfer documentation can be completed.

Reminders and Information

Snack Donations – Many thanks if you have already made a donation, we are barely covering half of the cost of snack so to ensure that we can continue to offer a varied selection of foods please can parents support us by making a donation as soon as possible.

Toilet Training – If you need any help or advice on supporting your child with toilet training please speak to a member of staff. Training tips information sheet on notice board – please ask if you would like a copy.

Lunch Club – Please label all lunch boxes and drink bottles to avoid confusion. We have an advice sheet displayed on our notice board (please ask a member of staff if you would like a copy). Please provide a balanced healthy lunch for your child avoiding any nut products e.g. Nutella as we have children with a nut allergy. Could small plastic lids (like those on fruit shoot bottles) be removed as we have noticed children trying to put them in their mouth, also could grapes, sausages etc. be cut in half lengthways to avoid a possible choking risk.

Safety – PLEASE DO NOT park at the front of the Church or in the disabled spaces (unless you have a valid badge). With children entering and leaving the building at busy times we want their safety to be paramount. There is parking available at the rear of the Church or nearby at Library Walk shops.

WOW Board and Home News – Help us to celebrate your child’s successes and share your home news. We always welcome your involvement in your Childs time at Pre School and these initiatives are an opportunity for you to let us know of those special achievements or events. Completed stars and home news slips will be added to your child’s profile folder for them to keep.

Bags, coats, hats etc. – All items should be clearly labelled with your child’s name, please check bags regularly to ensure that spare clothes, pull-ups, wipes etc. are enclosed. No sweets, small toys, food items or medications of any kind should be included as these could be a danger to children. With free access to the garden please ensure that your child has suitable clothing for outdoor play especially as the weather is so changeable.

Change of Information – Please keep us informed of any changes ~ such as mobile phone numbers for the texting system; change of address; allergies, or other medical updates.

Absence – If your child is not going to attend for any reason such as sickness or holiday it is important that you let us know. Please telephone us on 01234 326685 (there is an answerphone), or advise a member of Staff.
