Newsletter – June 18

Dear Parents/Carers

Easter Concert – Thank You We hope you enjoyed our Easter concert, the children were fabulous. Thank you for your help and donations we raised over £400.00. With this money we have purchased some wonderful new resources including two new easels, two sets of large construction blocks, 2 wooden play steering wheels and various role play items.

Beep Beep week was a huge success Our children took part in a range of activities to support road safety awareness whilst having fun too.

Questionnaires Many thanks for your help we received a high number of completed questionnaires back and all responses help us to support our own self- evaluation.

Group Photos – Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th June We will be visited by a professional photographer on Monday 11th June (morning and afternoon sessions) and Tuesday 12th (morning sessions) for group photos of the children. These will be available to purchase before the end of term – please look out for a poster with details of times and cost nearer the time. If your child does not attend on those days and you would like them to be in the photographs please feel free to pop in at the time stated on the poster. It will be a lovely keepsake of your child’s time at Pre-school with their friends.

Save the Children – Den Building Week 9th – 13th July incl.
We will be using a range of construction resources to build different types of dens and learning about homes we live in. These activities will support a range of developmental areas and will promote – helping others, sharing, how to use a variety of resources, creativity, problem solving etc. If anyone works for a company who could help supply us with some large, clean cardboard boxes please could you let us know? We would also welcome any monetary donations towards this worthy charity during the week.

Teddy Bears Party – Thursday 19th July We will be holding a ‘Teddy Bears party’ for those children who attend on a Thursday – please send your child along with their teddy bear or other favourite soft toy (named if possible). We will be enjoying party food that day instead of the advertised snack; allergies will be taken into account. If you have any concerns please speak to a member of staff.

End of Term Concert – Friday 20th July We would like to invite all of the children together with their families to our end of term Concert. We would be grateful if you would arrive at 10.15am for a 10.30am start. All children must be accompanied. If you will not be attending the concert, please advise us of the last day your child will be present at Pre School, especially the children who will be leaving us. After the concert if you have time please stay and join us for a cup of tea/coffee etc. so that the staff can say their goodbyes. This is also an opportunity to arrange meet ups with other parents and their children over the very long summer holiday. Please note that there are no clubs or morning sessions that day.

New Website We now have a new website please take a look at with many thanks to one of our parents who has set this up for us.

Moving On to School or Nursery and leaving July 2018 If you have not already advised us please let Laura, Shelley or Georgina know as soon as possible which School or Nursery your child will be going to as transfer documents need to be completed.

Staff changes – Goodbye After 23 years we sadly say goodbye to Mrs Sharon Warner who will be leaving us at the end of term. Mrs Kim Hayes who is expecting a baby will also shortly be going on maternity leave we wish them every happiness and will miss them both very much. Hopefully everyone has received their letter from the Church regarding my leaving; we will of course keep you updated.

Fees and Snack Donations We would appreciate prompt payment of all fees unless we have agreed to a payment plan. Snack donations would be much appreciated

Absence – If your child is not going to attend for any reason such as sickness or holiday it is important that you let us know. Please telephone us on 01234 326685 (there is an answerphone) with a description of why your child is absent, or advise a member of Staff. If your child is absent for 5 consecutive days or more and we have not been notified of the reason we now have to advise Bedford Borough Council as part of the Safeguarding agreement we have with them.

Garden area With free access to the garden please ensure that your child has suitable clothing for outdoor play – the children love to dig in the garden and they may get dirty. But, with our changeable climate, please provide them with clothing that is suitable for the day (could you also please put your child’s name in their coat/hat). As the warmer weather ‘hopefully’ approaches please remember to apply sun cream before you arrive at Pre School and provide a hat for your child. If your child attends for the whole day and you would like us to apply sun cream after lunch please complete a sun application permission form and provide us with a bottle clearly labelled with their name. (For the safety of all the children please do not leave bottles of sun cream in your child’s bag, thank you)
